Recording Engineer Program Overview

At Pinnacle College, we teach one audio engineer program and we teach it well. The recording engineer program is designed for the serious-minded individual, with a commitment to learning. The course of study includes the rudiments of the underlying science and technology of the audio engineer, including, but not limited to:

  • Recording workshop
  • Audio/Video Post Production
  • Synchronization
  • Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI),
  • Technical Maintenance
  • Digital mastering
  • and more!

Offered in either morning or evening sessions, the recording engineering program is eleven months long and offers an ideal blend of theory/workshop, analog/digital as well as audio and video.

Summary of Recording Engineer Curriculum

  • In Advanced Recording Workshop, the educational focus is automation and automated mixdown.

  • In Audio/ Video Post Production Workshop, instruction for scoring will take place at a minimum of one workshop, utilizing one or more of the following: MIDI , narration, or Foley.

  • In Digital Mastering, the primary focus is the final product of the audio production process.

  • In Recording Studio Maintenance, the instructional objective is calibration and diagnostics of electronic components.

There is no getting around it: the program is FUN and you will enjoy it, particularly if you are musically inclined. But intermixed with the fun and the excitement you will get a solid education in audio engineering: you will learn not only how music is engineered but, as you will learn in our recording school theory classes, why it is engineered the way it is.
